The University of Western Ontario Faculty Association has formally requested Western\'s President to suspend shuttle service for students during the LTC strike.; }( F/ s x) w: O
They\'re making the request in support of the London Transit Union which likened the shuttle service earlier this morning to \"union busting\".
2 G. Q3 ^7 h5 p2 ^' z2 K, ZThe Faculty Association is one of the University\'s largest unions and represents more than 1500 professors and other staff.
2 B. s% d. ~: i' EIt had earlier said its members would not cross picket lines if LTC union members decided to protest the shuttle service near campus -- a move which would have left classrooms and lecture halls virtually empty. + k8 G* X( T* H, h0 a4 {9 f
The union has since reversed its position and says, in the event of picket lines forming, it would advise its members to cross and report for work. |
