The University of Western Ontario Faculty Association has formally requested Western\'s President to suspend shuttle service for students during the LTC strike.. g" i H O1 v! ?" Q3 }' F2 u
They\'re making the request in support of the London Transit Union which likened the shuttle service earlier this morning to \"union busting\".
! C0 [0 g, N* ?4 e9 @. JThe Faculty Association is one of the University\'s largest unions and represents more than 1500 professors and other staff.
# D" U8 H$ A; U# d9 E" F7 J) pIt had earlier said its members would not cross picket lines if LTC union members decided to protest the shuttle service near campus -- a move which would have left classrooms and lecture halls virtually empty. - w; ?7 ]1 L/ ^* j( p5 `# V5 H
The union has since reversed its position and says, in the event of picket lines forming, it would advise its members to cross and report for work. |
