The smart meter implementation costs have already passed $1 billion, Hudak said.

Wednesday, he was flanked in London by one Tory caucus veteran and a newcomer to the party fold: Ernie Hardeman, the long-time Oxford MPP who will seek re-election this fall, and ex-city councillor Cheryl Miller, who will challenge London-Fanshawe Liberal MPP Khalil Ramal.

Absent, though, was another high-profile local Tory candidate -- city councillor Nancy Branscombe, who couldn't attend due to a pre-arranged family commitment. ^2 y& g i3 T% }" Z# M

Miller, for one, says that's water under the political bridge.

"The (civic) election's over. It was over in October, you move on. I never dwell on stuff. Nancy and I will work well together because philosophically we want what's best for London."
